General Registration Instructions
The applications on this web site use a very simplistic registration system. The original system was tied to individual computers, meaning applications would have to be registered for each computer it was used on, even if you were just upgrading your computer. As of version 3 for all applications, the registration code is based on the name of the original user account on your computer. This means that, assuming your account names are the same, your application will be transferable when you upgrade computers, or even if you have multiple computers. If you want to use the applications on computers that have a different user account name, then you will have to register again. That's not the best system in the world, but it helps to keep in mind that this is one of the reasons that the registration for each application is only $4.99 or $9.99 for the suite of tools.
If you're OK with the above, then read the following to see how to register. Be sure to carefully read all the steps before you register:
- Make sure that you have your Username/User Number before you start. You will need to enter this information below.
- If you do not know your Username/User Number, open the preferences panel of the application you are registering. The safest is to copy and paste from the preference panel to the text field below.
- Note, for the VIDEOtoolbox applications, the username is based on the original account name of your computer, not necessarily the user account that you've logged into, but your registration code will allow the application to be used by all accounts on the computer.
- When you click on the Buy Now button, you'll be taken to the Paypal web site. Follow the instructions to complete the registration process.
- Once Paypal sends a "payment received" notification, an e-mail with the registration code will be sent to you. This is an automated process, so assuming no problems with Paypal or the e-mail software (both of which unfortunately have happened) you should get your Registration code within a few minutes of registering. Note, if you don't enter a valid username or a working e-mail address at the Paypal site, you won't receive your registration code. Also, be aware that sometimes the registration e-mail gets filtered as spam, so if you don't receive it, check your junk folder.
VIDEOtoolbox Suite of Applications
First there was MoKgVm2DVD. Its features were then expanded to create MKVtools 2. Now MKVtools 2 has been split and expanded into the VIDEOtoolbox suite made up of the applications below.
Make sure that you carefully go over the registration options. Registration codes from MKVtools 2.X will not work for these applications. You must re-register. Also, each application has a unique registration code so you unlock one app per registration. Or you have the option to register the whole suite. If you make a mistake, registrations are not refundable.
VIDEOtoolbox Registration ($9.99)
This is the upgrade for MKVtools 2. This option will get you a registration code for all current and future version 3 applications. Enter the username from either MP4tools, AVItools, or MKVtools below. Note a user number from MKVtools will not work. Copying and pasting from the preference panel is best to avoid typos.
Be sure that you are using the latest versions of the applications as the suite registration code will not be properly validated on versions earlier than 3.1.
MP4tools 3.X ($4.99)
This is the application that will probably satisfy the needs of 90% of those using or looking to use the original version of MKVtools (2.X). It will convert multiple video formats, including MKV's into MP4/M4V videos. Be sure to paste the username from the applications preference panel. Also, be sure you have the latest version.
AVItools 3.X ($4.99)
An application very similar to MP4tools, except this focuses on the creation and editing of AVI videos. It will convert multiple video formats, including MKV's. Again, be sure to paste the username from the applications preference panel. Also, be sure you have the latest version.
MKVtools 3.X (beta) ($4.99)
An application very similar to MP4tools, except this focuses on the creation and editing of MKV videos. This new version of MKVtools will not create MP4/M4V videos. Be sure to paste the username from the applications preference panel. Also, be sure you have the latest version.
Older Applications
MKVtools 2.X and Batch Unpacker Plus ($4.99)
If you are upgrading from a previous version of software, you do not need to re-register. All of the software on this site older than version 3.0 should accept your old registration code. E-mail me if you're having issues with that. The code you receive, will register both MKVtools and Batch Unpacker Plus.
If you have just downloaded MKVtools and are looking to register it, you may do so using the Buy Now button below. Note, however that you would be registering for software that is no longer being developed. You should be looking at either of the currently available replacement applications - either MP4tools or AVItools. Both will convert MKV videos. If you need some of the few features that are unique to MKVtools 2.X (e.g., extracting MKV tracks), then feel free to register. You might also consider the VIDEOtoolbox Suite registration option above which will get you a registration for MKVtools 2.X, all of the upgraded applications like MP4tools and AVItools, and the version 3 of MKVtools once it is released.
