How to Get the Registration Code

If you are upgrading from a previous version of software from this site, you do not need to re-register. Old registration codes will work for all of the software found on this site,

Note, however, that the above liberal policy is countered by a more strict rule regarding registering the software for multiple computers, or in the event that you upgrade your computer. The simplistic registration system being used by MKVtools defines a unique user number for each computer. So each computer requires a unique registration code. Due to the limitations of the registration system used, that means that if you want to run MKVtools on more than one computer (either at the same time, or because you are upgrading your computer), then you have to go through the registration process for each computer.

Just to be clear, your payment will get you a registration code for one and only one computer. If you want to run MKVtools on a second computer, or if you upgrade computers, then you need to go through the registration process again for each computer. This may seem a little strict, but I think you'll find that it's balanced by the fact that no one has ever had to pay for an upgraded version of the software on this site.

If you're OK with the above, then read the following to see how to register. Be sure to carefully read all the steps before you press the Pay Now button below:

  1. Make sure you that you have your User Number before you start. You will need to enter this information at the Paypal site.
  2. If you do not know your User Number, select "Enter Registration Code" from the MKVtools menu (or the Batch Unpacker Plus Menu). Your User Number will be displayed in the registration dialog box that appears.
  3. When you click on the "Pay Now" button below, you'll be taken to the Paypal web site. Choose the method of payment that works best for you and follow the corresponding instructions.
  4. When you get to the page where you review your payment information look for the "Enter Your User Number Here" link (see circled in red in the image below from the US PayPal site). Note some users have reported that the link is labelled as "Instructions to Merchant" so you might want to keep that in mind if your review page looks different than the one below.

  1. Click on the link and enter your User Number. You must enter your User Number before you complete the payment process.
  2. Once Paypal sends a payment received notification, an e-mail with the registration code will be sent to you. This is an automated process, so assuming no problems with Paypal or the e-mail software (which unfortunately has happened) you should get your Registration code within a few minutes of registering. Note, if you don't enter your User Number or a working e-mail address at the Paypal site, you won't receive your registration code.

***IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT***

The idiots over at AT&T have decided that I requested to have my DSL turned off. Numerous calls have proved fruitless so I have no regular internet connection for the foreseeable future. I now know why so many people complain about AT&T.

***UPDATE***
After an agonizing two weeks it was apparent that AT&T couldn't get their act together, so I dumped them for Comcast. I'm now connected to the internet again and the automated registration should be working,
