Older Applications

The software below is no longer being developed, other than the occasional bug fix, though they are still available for download in case you may find a need for them.

MKVtools 2

MKVtools 2.4.7 is the original application from which the current versions of MP4tools, AVItools and MKVtools were spun off. It is a jack of all trades, doing a little bit of everything video related. It's primary focus is the creation of video files of a varitey of formats for viewing on various types of hardware. It will also let you do some editing of MKV and MP4 files. To expand it's capabilities, it was split into the three, more specialized applications mentioned above. It will run on Mac OS X 10.5 and higher.

Here is a hotfile.com link if you have problems downloading via the above link. Just press the "Free" button and follow the instructions.

The latest beta can be found here.

If you are having difficulties running the current version of MKVtools, try these earlier versions which may be more capable of running on older systems. Again, make sure you test thoroughly before you decide to register.

  • MKVtools 2.2.6 is the last version of MKVtools that runs on PPC and older versions of Mac OS X.
  • MoKgVm2DVD 1.0.2 requires no registration, but it only converts to .avi files. Has issues with Mac OS X 10.5 and later.

Batch Unpacker Plus

Batch Unpacker is an OS X application that checks for, and if necessary, unpacks the bitstreams of AVI video files. This relatively quick process can very often cure a "stuttering" problem that can occur when AVI video files with packed bitstreams are played on DivX enabled DVD players. This stuttering can be observed as a jerkiness when the camera pans in the movie.

To run this application, you need to have the mono framework installed on your computer. The latest stable framework can be found here. Installation is as straight forward as installing most Mac applications.

Quick Batcher

Quick Batcher is an OS X application that quickly and easily lets you create video conversion batch jobs for the Mac OS application - ffmpegX. If you have multiple videos, or multiple titles from a DVD,and you want to convert convert them all with identical settings, Quick Batcher will enter all these jobs into ffmpegX's queue in one step.

Registration

MKVtools and Batch Unpacker Plus use the same registration code, so you only need to register once. You can register at the bottm of the registration page.
