How to Use Batch Unpacker

Hopefully, most of the operation of Batch Unpacker is fairly intuitive. Here is a quick guide:

  1. Launch Batch Unpacker.
  2. Choose the type of job to process. "Unpack" checks for and, if necessary, unpacks bitststreams. "Information" displays information about the videos. "Pixel Aspect Ratio" changes the videos pixel aspenct ratio to that select.
  3. Drag your video file or files (not folders!) to either the "drop area" in the application window or to the Batch Unpacker icon in the dock or finder. Note, files are analyzed before any processing takes place and only those AVI video files that have packed bitstreams will be processed. So if you're not sure about a video file, it's safe to try it on Batch Unpacker.
  4. Progress, and messages from Mpeg4 Modifier CL are displayed as the files are being processed. Most should be pretty self explanatory. As mentioned previously, Batch Unpacker is merely a GUI for Mpeg4 Modifier CL, so if you get some strange message about a file, then you might want to check the Mpeg4Modifier site at: http://moitah.net/.
  5. A folder named "Batch Unpacker Output" will be created at the same location as the original video file(s). All processed files will be located in this folder. The original files containing packed bitstreams will have their labels changed so that they will be easily identified and selected in the finder if you want to move them to the trash.
